
About Jonathan
Jonathan is a Clinical and Counselling Psychologist and has provided therapeutic and support services for over 15 years. He has worked as a psychologist in both public and private health sectors as well as with community non-government organisations including the Sexual Assault Resource Centre (SARC), Abbotsford Private Hospital, Youth Focus, InFocus Counselling, Family Planning WA, and the Autism Association of WA.

He completed both his Bachelor and Master’s degrees in Psychology at Curtin University, and has also completed postgraduate studies in the fields of Sexology and Mental Health Practice.
​
In 2016 Jonathan opened his first private practice clinic at ‘Psychology in Applecross’ and is available for appointments on Tuesday afternoons and Thursday afternoons. In addition to therapy services, Jonathan also works as a Psychology lecturer at the University of Notre Dame Australia.

Jonathan works from a client-centred approach, and is skilled in engaging clients and their families in counselling to address the issues affecting them. Jonathan’s counselling is primarily based on interpersonal therapy and attachment-based perspectives. Jonathan is trained in specific interventions and techniques including schema therapy, imagery rescripting, and eye movement desensitisation & reprocessing (EMDR). Jonathan has sent much of his career successfully working with clients who are often reluctant to openly engage in therapy including adolescents, young adults, and men.
